Window Treatments to Enhance Your Interior Design in Tampa

Curtains

For plain curtains, you can add vertical stripes, horizontal stripes, diagonal stripes or grids using a single color or a combination of colors. For printed curtains, choose a color from the print and use ribbons in that color to frame the sides and bottom of each panel. If you have a little more change to spare, you may want to purchase a swatch of fabric in complementary shades and texture to your existing curtains. You can sew on horizontal panels, creating solid blocks of color.

If your old curtains are partially damaged but you still love the material, you can cut them and make them into café curtains that cover just the lower halves of your kitchen windows, or short curtains for the top of those windows.

You might also want to make totally new curtains. Instead of making them in a solid color, choose shades from your interiors and upholstery and make curtains featuring fabrics of these colors sewn together in horizontal panels.

If you want some light to come into your rooms, choose sheer fabrics for your new curtains. If you place your curtain rods just beneath the ceiling and hang your sheer curtains down to the floor, the effect can be very dramatic. These are also very appropriate for French doors, in which case they should be tied with a complementary sash or ribbon to allow easy entry and exit.

Draperies

The only difference between curtains and draperies is that draperies are always lined. Any treatment you can do for non-sheer curtains can, therefore, also be applied to drapes.

Shades

Existing shades in plain material can be prettified with patterns and designs in acrylic paint. A ribbon in a complementary or contrasting color can be glued to the lower edge of the shade for accent.

You may also glue pretty patterned paper over your existing shade. Some possibilities are remnants of unused wallpaper, special gift wrappers or even origami paper. You can use one design or make a combination of several designs in complementary shades and patterns. Make sure the paper is glued on neatly, without wrinkles and air bubbles. Use spray on craft adhesive for best results.

Blinds

Blinds are very functional but when you get tired of them, they are not very cheap to replace. You can, instead, disguise them with inexpensive café curtains or shades covering their lower halves.

Try any of these tricks to quickly transform your window treatments and interior design. It would be even better to coordinate your window treatments with your furniture, upholstery and bedding. It would be like having a major renovation of your Tampa home.
